The Dana/Thomas House (begun 1902, completed 1903) in Springfield, Illinois, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Susan Lawrence Dana, daughter of a wealthy Springfield businessman. In 1943 Dana sold the residence to Charles C. Thomas, a book publisher, who established his business office in the house. When Thomas's business vacated the house in 1981, Governor James R. Thompson and the Illinois state legislature approved the purchase of the house and funded the restoration process (1987-1990) documented in this collection. Wilbert Hasbrouck served as the Project Director for the restoration, coordinating the production of the process and assessment report, conducting historical research, and editing the final report.

The collection consists of plans, historical research, contracts, proposals, object inventories, condition reports, and working manuals, used by the project team during the restoration project.

The documents are arranged chronologically by date of report or set of drawings.
