Most materials relate to fashion shows, seminars, and other events hosted by the organization, including programs, advertisements, and press releases. The Fashion Group sought to promote high-end fashion and provide educational opportunities and resources for individuals interested in the fashion industry.

The collection is arranged in five series.

Series 1. Administrative records, 1948-1985 (box 1-5)

Series 1 consists of directories, manuals, financial records, meeting minutes, memos, biographies, and other administrative files of The Fashion Group of Chicago. Most of the material relates to membership and officer elections. Financial records include budget reports and annual reports. Memos are largely from presidents regarding council meetings, reminders, and meeting minutes.

Series 2. Correspondence, 1951-1987 (box 5-6)

Series 2 contains correspondence regarding events, membership, and publicity. Correspondents include members and officers of The Fashion Group of Chicago, make-up artists, fashion magazines, and Chicago department stores such as Marshall Field's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and the Merchandise Mart.

Series 3. Event material, 1953-1986 (box 6-9)

Series 3 contains schedules, speech abstracts, press releases, brochures, invitations, advertisements, and other materials regarding events hosted by The Fashion Group of Chicago. Materials provide information on event speakers and themes. A majority of the events were fashion shows.

Series 4. Newspaper and magazine articles, 1959-1981 (box 9-10)

Series 4 contains newspaper and magazine articles about The Fashion Group of Chicago. Most articles are from the Chicago Tribune or the Women's Journal. Topics include members, event announcements, fashion shows, and current fashion trends.

Series 5. General material, 1950-1979 (box 10-11)

Series 5 contains speech transcripts, correspondence, publicity files, and other general files of The Fashion Group of Chicago. Also present are photographs of members and from fashion shows.
