- AbstractPapers relating to John B. Fithian, a Civil War veteran and judge in the Probate Court of Will County. The materials consist of papers pertaining to Fithian's service during the Civil War, including a hand-written note authorizing a pass for John Fithian and one pony from Vicksburg, Missississippi to Memphis, Tennessee and a handwritten note, dated October 24, 1865, ordering John Fithian to report for duty.

The materials consist of papers pertaining to Fithian's service during the Civil War, including a hand-written note authorizing a pass for John Fithian and one pony from Vicksburg, Missississippi to Memphis, Tennessee and a handwritten note, dated October 24, 1865, ordering John Fithian to report for duty.
In addition to the war era documents are several certificates and legal documents, including a certificate of membership for the Masonic Veteran Association of Illinois (1897); a document certifying Fithian as District Deputy Grand Master of the Eighth Masonic District (1902); and a certificate announcing the election of John B. Fithian as Judge of the Probate Court of Will Country (1906). Also included is a document from Cushing Development Company noting Fithian's purchase of property on an oil sub-division in Oklahoma.
Also included are memorial material pertaining to Edna Whitake Fithian, the wife of John Fithian. These include a In Memoriam program, one photograph, and two obituaries.
