Caroline Alden Huling (1856-1941) was a writer, editor, and publisher. She published "The Bookseller" and edited many newsletters such as "Social Progress", "The Stylus", and "The Sentinel". She was the author of the novels, The Courage of Her Convictions and Letters of a Business Woman to Her Niece.

Huling was also a founder and prominent member of many organizations. She was a founding member of the Illinois Woman's Press Association (IWPA) in 1885. She also founded the Midwest chapter of Alden Kindred of America in 1912. She was the first woman in New York to be appointed a notary public and the first woman elected to office in the National Editorial Association. She was involved in the suffrage and temperance movements. She was an active member of many other societies as well, namely the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Hugenot Society of Pennsylvania, the Institute of American Genealogy, the Woman's City Club of Chicago, and the Society of Midland Authors.

This collection contains the newsletter that Huling published, "The Bookseller", and newsletters that she edited, such as "Social Progress" and "The Stylus". Materials that document her political activities and her genealogical research are also contained in this collection. Additional material consists of books, writings, ribbons, artifacts, correspondences, photographs, certificates, newspaper clippings, and advertisements. The majority of the material falls in the period between 1873 and 1941.
