David A. Root (d. 1995), a native of St. Paul, Minnesota and a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, worked as a marketing, fundraising, and communications consultant in Chicago for over thirty years. Root provided services to various cultural institutions including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Ravinia Festival, the Washington Opera, the Wolftrap Summer Festival and Arena Stage. He was also involved in exhibition design for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Hagley-DuPont Family Museum, and the White House Preservation Fund.
