Frank D. Keyser (1874-?) was visiting his sister Mary, an assistant to Jane Addams at Hull-House, in 1893 when Jane Addams offered him the job of heating engineer to maintain a newly installed furnace. Keyser accepted the position and later became the superintendent of the Hull-House building complex; a position which he held for over 54 years. After Frank D. Keyser married Lida Evans at Hull-House in 1901, they moved into one of the Hull-House apartments. They had no children and Lida Keyser died in 1940.

The collection includes a newspaper clipping scrapbook, business and calling cards, invitations and a flyer. The scrapbook contains information on Jane Addams, Ellen Gates Starr, John Linn, the Keyser family, the Unemployed Councils of Lawndale Ditrict, justice in Hungary mass meeting in Chicago, 1932, probation officers and the juvenile court, Gertrude Howe Britton, Laura Dainty Pelham, Hilda Satt [Polacheck], the Hull-House basketball team of 1894, Hull-House-related crime, Martha Scott (singing instructor), and Hermann Sach's industrial art classes. Also included are business cards of Lida Keyser for Illinois Masonic Hospital Association and the Chicago Training School for Home and Public Health Nursing; William Keyser, Eliza Keyser, Frank Keyser; the calling cards of Miss [Ella] Waite and Miss Edith Blair, and an announcement card for the Amelia Earhart reception at Bowen Hall, Hull-House. Also there are clippings on Thomas W. Allison, head resident of the Henry Booth settlement, Louise deKoven Bowen, Lydia Coonley Ward, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Eduard Burchard, first male Hull-House resident in 1891, and Clifford Barnes, second male resident in 1892.
