  • AbstractFrom 1909, until about 1912, Chicago social worker Gudrun S. Rom was a caseworker with United Charities. She then worked for the Bureau of Public Welfare, the Juvenile Protective Association, and the Juvenile Court before returning to United Charities in 1918 to work in the Near North Side district. In 1933, she became head of the agency's strockyards district office. This small collection contains personal documents including a birth certificate, will, obituary, and memorial service program for Gudrun S. Rom. It also includes several items of correspondence and a photograph of Rom at age six.
