Egidio Clemente was an Italian-American labor leader and professional printer who edited La Parola del Popolo. A socialist, and close associate of Domenico Saudino, Clemente's early career as a political radical became more centrist during the Roosevelt Administration. Clemente may have supervised printing for the O.S.S. in Rome during World II for psychological warfare efforts such as Operation Cornflakes and Operation Sauerkraut. After the war, Clemente continued to support the cause of labor in the United States and was active in socialist causes.

The Egidio Clemente Papers include clippings, published articles, pamphlets, brochures, satirical poetry, correspondence, and notes. Original manuscripts and notes taken by Domenico Saudino are also included in these papers. Miscellaneous items include published historical papers about famous World War II battles by Raymond Cartier, as well as Mission High School bulletins and related materials. Some material is in English, but issues of La Parola del Popolo, as well as some clippings taken from other periodicals, newspapers, and academic journals are in Italian.

Egidio Clemente donated these materials to the University of Illinois at Chicago in January 1971.
