The German American National Congress (Deutsch-Amerikanischer National-Kongress), a not-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of Illinois, was founded in 1958 with its main headquarters in Chicago. The goals of the organization included the fostering of friendship between the U.S.A. and Germany, unity of all Germany-Americans, reunification of Germany, the countering of anti-German propaganda, and the cultivation and preservation of the German heritage, culture and language. Membership is open to American citizens of German extraction, regardless of sex, or political/religious affiliation.
