Richard M. Daley Papers, Series 3: Press Office, 1989-2006

This series contains the records of Mayor Richard M. Daley's press office. The office managed much of the mayor's public relations. It monitored his press coverage, prepared proclamations, helped draft his speeches, and published press releases.

Subseries 4: Press Office subject files, 1990-2007

Series 1 through 6 are ordered according to the unit or staff person who created or maintained the materials. Series 7 through 9 are arranged by the material type. Most a/v and digital media were moved to series 8. Most of the artifacts found in the collection were moved to series 9. Photographs remain in their original order.

Richard M. Daley (b. 1942 - ) served as Chicago's mayor from 1989 to 2011. He is the son of Richard J. Daley, who served as Chicago's mayor from 1955 to 1976. Before becoming mayor, Richard M. served in numerous public positions, such as delegate to the 1970 Illinois Constitutional Convention, state legislator, and state's attorney for Cook County.
