  • Collection summary Informal full-length portrait of May Dorothy Peterson, Bergeliot Thorpe, Irene E. Satrang, and Martha Gullang standing on a sidewalk in front of a replica of a Viking ship, wearing Scandinavian dresses and holding wreaths which they placed on the ship during a tribute to Leif Erickson. The ship is visible in the background, behind a chain-link fence. The ship had been sailed to the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 and exhibited there. It remained in Washington Park for a time and later was moved to Lincoln Park in Chicago, Illinois.
