  • Collection summary Image of a crowded courtroom in Chicago, Illinois, at the trial of accused murderer Samuel Howard Dorr. Dorr is sitting at the table to the right of the image in the third chair from the right, leaning forward on the table. Samuel Howard Dorr, an insurance salesman, was accused of the murder of William O<U+2019>Brien, who, along with his wife, was a tenant in Dorr<U+2019>s apartment building. Dorr was also suspected of having an affair with Genevieve O<U+2019>Brien, the victim<U+2019>s wife; Dorr denied it and Mrs. O<U+2019>Brien supported it. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison after a sixteen day long trial.
