  • Collection summary Portrait of Assistant State's Attorneys Harry A. Ditchburne (front) and Walter Butler (behind) sitting at the front of a courtroom in Chicago, Illinois. They were the prosecutors in the Samuel Howard Dorr murder trial. Samuel Howard Dorr, an insurance salesman, was accused of the murder of William O<U+2019>Brien, who, along with his wife, was a tenant in Dorr<U+2019>s apartment building. Dorr was also suspected of having an affair with Genevieve O<U+2019>Brien, the victim<U+2019>s wife; Dorr denied it and Mrs. O<U+2019>Brien supported it. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison after a sixteen day long trial.
