  • Collection summary Exterior view of Immaculate Conception Church. The church is viewed from down the street toward the side of the building. A group of people is gathered in front of a small building next to the church while others are crossing the street. The church was located at 88th Street and Commercial Street in the South Chicago community area of Chicago, Illinois. This image was probably associated with the funeral for the victims of the fire at the water-intake crib in Lake Michigan off 71st Street burst on January 20, 1909, when 70 workers died in the disaster.
