  • Collection summary Portrait of people arriving at the Methodist Camp Ground in Des Plaines, Illinois, for a Camp Meeting. The camp, on the banks of the Des Plaines River, was founded by Methodists in 1860 and granted a charter in 1867. The ticket depot in the background is probably near the northeast camp entrance where the Northwest railway line built a platform.
