  • Collection summary Image of an airplane flying in the International Air Races sponsored by the Chicago Daily News and "The Official Competitive 'Aeronautical Event' of the Century of Progress World's Fair." It was held on September 1-4, 1933 at the Curtiss-Wright-Reynolds Airport on Shermer Road and Lake Avenue in Glenview, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago. In this image, stuntman Kurt Kunall is perched atop the wing of the plane, piloted by Clarence Clabaugh, vice-president of North Shore Airways.
