  • Collection summary View of the South Halsted Street Bridge, looking up at the steel structure and lift mechanisms on one side of the vertical lift bridge. One of the bridge's weights fell, causing an accident. The bridge was located on South Halsted Street just south of West 22nd Street and crossed the South Branch of the Chicago River in the Lower West Side community area of Chicago, Illinois.
