  • Collection summary Portrait of golfer Johnny Goodman walking on the green during the U. S. Open National Tournament at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Illinois on June 8, 9, and 10, 1933. A crowd of spectators is encircling the green. Johnny Goodman shot a 66 in his second round of competition, tying Gene Sarazern;s U.S. Open single-round record which had been set the previous year. Goodman won the tournament by a single stroke, making him the fifth and most recent amateur to win the U.S. Open. Text on the image reads: Goodman putting on 18th for course record of 66- natl.
