  • Collection summary Visual materials from the collection of commercial photographer Hutchinson primarily consisting of cityscapes of Chicago and images of various yachts and boats from races and excursions. Includes races on Lake Michigan, participants, awards ceremonies and related marine activities. Most cityscapes focus on the central area of the city: the Loop, the Chicago River and the Michigan Avenue bridge, and the north Michigan Avenue commercial area. Some cityscapes show Chicago and suburbs in winter. Photoprints include Loop office buildings; museums such as the Field Museum, Museum of Science & Industry, the Planetarium; plus a few scenes of a hospital operating room, the Ba'hai Temple (Wilmette, Ill.) and the Grand Hotel (Mackinac Island, Mich.). Transparencies also include views of parades, including Shriners Parade (1963), Milwaukee Parade (1965), Greek Parade (1966), and views of Spain and Mexico. Includes portraits of Hutchinson.
