  • Collection summary
    • Black-and-white glass plate negatives that reproduce pages from Dr. Frank H. Blackmarr's scrapbook documenting the Titanic rescue. Images depict photographs of the RMS Carpathia ship and crew, Titanic lifeboats and survivors, Titanic wreckage and icebergs in open water, portrait photographs of those aboard the Titanic, and paintings inspired by the rescue by artist Colin Campbell Cooper.
    • Frank Blackmarr was a Chicago-based physician on board the RMS Carpathia, a ship that first responded to the Titanic's distress signal. In addition to caring for the survivors, Blackmarr was among the first to provide details of the disaster to the press. He lectured in the Chicago area about his experience aboard the RMS Carpathia and published a Titanic memorial with artist, Colin Campbell Cooper ca. 1912. Blackmarr died in the 1940s.
