    • Images, mostly made Sept. 2001- March 2002, by these photographers: Lucille Adams, Antoinette Beckman, Phyllis Cerny, Gale M. Grube, Alan Havlick, Pam Havlick, Jane H. Kriete, Russel Kriete, Betty Kubis, Earl Kubis, Lynne Lee, John McCarthy, Paul L. Meyers, Betty Nehls, Tal Sloka, Carolyn Sparling, and Mary Vassolo. Lynne Lee was honored with the Betty Hulett Award for submitting 132 slides on the theme: "Chatham: a Thriving African-American Community of Stability and Change."
    • The entire collection includes views of Chicago and of the following towns and suburbs outside of Chicago: Batavia, Berwyn, Crestwood, Downers Grove, Evanston, Frankfort, Lockport, Mokena, Monee, Naperville, Oak Brook, Oak Lawn, Third Lake, Westmont, and Wheaton. Topics include the following buildings and landmarks: Prairie Avenue district, Hotel Monaco, Board of Trade, Goodman Theater, Heidelberg building, CTA and Metra stations, Millennium Park; and the Black Arts festival, Chinatown, Pilsen, and a Native American Pow Wow.

  • Acquisition information These slides and many accompanying photoprints were the gift of the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association (CACCA) and gift of the individual photographers as part of the Chicagoland-in-Pictures project, an annual competition sponsored by Chicago Historical Society and CACCA since 1948. These images were accepted into the collection during the 2001-2002 competition (2002.0258).
