    • Correspondence, clippings, and other records of the North Loop News, a newspaper founded in 1930 and distributed in the Chicago<U+2019>s 42nd ward neighborhoods of Near North, Gold Coast, Streeterville, River North, and North Loop. Box 1 (1934-1984, bulk 1970-1978) contains letters to the publisher, Bob Albanese, called Bud Albanese, discussing North Loop news articles and advertisements, newspaper clippings about the "North Looping" column; photographs and awards and appreciation certificates from various organizations, such as the Boy Scouts and the American Legion. Box 2 contains a scrapbook (1931-1936) with correspondence and clippings. Box 3 contains an account book of monthly recaps (1943-1945) and a scrapbook of newspaper clippings from or related to the North Loop News (ca. 1926-1952).
    • The North Loop News was founded by Robert "Bud" Albanese in 1930 when Albanese was 24 years old. Its offices were located at 800 N. Clark. Lou Mariano, a cousin of Albanese, served as a regular columnist for much of the paper<U+2019>s run. The News covered local businesses, government, zoning, and other urban planning and development issues, including the expansion of Oak Street Beach.
