  • Collection summary Black-and-white photographs (approximately 40 items) and color photographic prints (2 items) related to the Alcock and Hoban families, as well as a memorial postcard in remembrance of Edward Hoban. Photographs depict mainly portraits of family members Thomas H. Alcock, Theresa Hoban Alcock, Edward F. Hoban, John H. Alcock, and Thomas Victor Scott. Archbishop Edward F. Hoban served as Bishop of Rockford (Ill.), 1928-1942. John Alcock served as acting Chicago police chief or commissioner three times (1918-1919; 1923, 1930-31). He was born in Ireland and came to Chicago in 1889. His first wife was Theresa Hoban Alcock, sister of Bishop Hoban. Photographers included Walinger Studio, Laveccha Studio, and probably family members.
