  • Collection summary Photographs and other prints collected by William K. Brussat, who worked for Chicago's Office of Housing and Redevelopment from 1952-1955. Images related to many topics often involved in city planning, such as images of buildings, bridges, streets, utilities, and recreation spaces; portraits of mayors and other Chicago municipal officials; a group photograph captioned: "Presentation of the completed Plan of Chicago to the Commercial Club committee on the plan, 1908," with each man indentified, including Daniel H. Burnham; a group of images showing Chicago police stations and Chicago Municipal Court criminal branches prior to 1912; a 1906 image of a group of men standing in an underground tunnel captioned, "Illinois Tunnel Co., US Mail Conveyor, Chicago Post Office"; and a 1910 collage of building pictures titled, "Twenty-four City Telephone Exchanges of Chicago." Nearly all images have descriptive inscriptions or captions.
