  • Collection summary Includes views of residents of the South Side of Chicago (Ill.) photographed by Antonio Perez. People are shown posed in their homes, at church, and on the street. Many of the people depicted are Hispanic Americans. Several views show girls dressed for first communion and there are also several views of weddings. In a number of the pictures, people are shown holding guns. There is also a view of a priest celebrating mass on the street, a birthday party for an older woman, and a number of views of men in homeless shelters. A few images are of industrial scenes. There is one image of Chicago mayor Harold Washington standing at a podium where there are a great many microphones.
