Strand Avenue (later known as Avenue O) closed ca. 1902-1903 as the other saloon opened at 8957 South Green Bay Avenue. Many customers were Eastern European immigrant steel workers employed at the nearby South Works steel mill. Mr. Majetic spelled his name differently on the outside saloons signs: Majetish and Majetich. A sign on the outside of the South Green Bay Avenue location reads "Horvatsko Slovenski Dom" or "Croatian Slovene Home."
