  • Collection summary Primarily professional photographs of window and other displays at Chas. A. Stevens & Bros State Street women's apparel store. Includes some interior views of counters, display fixtures and individual departments (lingerie, shoes, etc.) as well as formal showcases. Also includes views of the Stevens owned and operated gift shop in the Stevens Hotel (700 S. Michigan Ave.) and a few interiors of public areas at the hotel. One photo album and larger photographs show window and other displays for 1905-1913. A scrapbook describes the 1943 opening of the Streets of Yesteryear exhibit at Chicago's Museum of Science & Industry with a model Stevens store from the early 1900s. Snapshots show window displays, ca. 1950-1969. A few small photographs show branch stores in outlying suburbs.
