  • Collection summary Job files (ca. 150) for buildings, alterations, and some furniture designed by Edward Robert Humrich, based in Wadsworth (Ill.), and related architects. Designs were made for various clients in the Chicago area, primarily the northern suburbs. Most are for residences; some are for small-scale commercial buildings. Files (rolls and folders) for a building often contain drawings, blueprints, site plans, and other plans. Boxed materials include photographs, photostats, and slides for many buildings. Collection also includes some letters, newsclippings about exhibitions of Humrich's work, licenses, contracts, and other documents.
  • Biographical or Historical Note Humrich received formal licensing in 1968, but created earlier drawings and issued them under the names of other architects. He also worked with Robert W. Seyfarth in Highland Park, Chester Walcott in Lake Forest, and the Army Corps of Engineers. He is especially known for the mid-century modern, ranch-style houses he built in Riverwoods (Ill.).
