  • Collection summary Photographs relating to railroad facilities in Chicago (Ill.). A large group of images relate to the construction of the new Union Station during the 1920s, including a few group portraits of officials and staff of the Chicago Union Station Company, ca. 1925, as well as photographs, taken ca. 1915, of the streets and buildings adjacent to the proposed site of the new Union Station, the old Union Passenger Station, the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad passenger terminal, and other railroad properties along the west side of the Chicago River. Other images show construction of mail handling facilities between the Main Post Office building and Union Station, construction of the Gateway Center building, and views of railroad tracks, freight houses, and yards. There are also views of the USO facilities in Union Station, ca. 1951.
