  • Collection summary Four scrapbooks on events in the life of Mary Logan Tucker, daughter of General John A. Logan (1826-1886), and her mother, Mary Simmerson Cunningham Logan. Volume one relates to the daughter's marriage to William F. Tucker, Jr., at the Logans' Chicago home (1877 Dec. 2). The scrapbook contains calling cards, letters of congratulations, and newspaper clippings. Volume two relates to the 1891 birth of George Edwin Tucker. The scrapbook contains telegrams and letters of congratulations, clippings of newspaper announcements, and a group photo of George's second birthday party in Maryland, 1893. Volume three contains news clippings, death announcements, letters and telegrams of condolence on the death of George Edwin Tucker from appendicitis in 1905 in Manila, where his father was stationed. Volume four concerns the years 1905-1911 in the life of Logan Tucker, Mary and William's first son. Clippings and telegrams relate to his appointment as a Marine lieutenant (1905) and his marriage (1907). Much of volume four is comprised of clippings and condolences sent to Mary Tucker and Mrs. John A. Logan upon the sudden death of Logan Tucker at the age of 33 in 1911.
  • Biographical or Historical Note Mary Elizabeth Logan Tucker (Mrs. William F. Tucker, Jr.), known as Dollie, was the daughter of General John Alexander Logan. Mrs. Tucker obtained a divorce from Col. Tucker in 1909.
