  • Collection summary Lantern slides of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago (Ill.) including views, buildings, interiors, exhibits, and "slice-of-life" scenes. The lantern slides were manufactured by T.H. McAllister, Manufacturing Optician, and attributed to photographer F. Dundas Todd. T.H. McAllister was a company based in New York that specialized in selling magic lantern equipment and images. Each slide is labeled with a subject and number.
  • Biographical or Historical Note Frederick Dundas Todd, 1858-1927, was a Scottish-born photographer who taught and lectured in Edinburgh before he moved to Chicago in 1893. He resided in Chicago until 1906, where he edited the Photo Beacon and published instructional books on photography as well as a few volumes of his own work.
