  • Collection summary Correspondence, condolence letters, memorials, clippings, and a ledger of Clayton Mark. Mr. Mark was a Chicago manufacturer of wrought steel pipe and water well supplies, who served as president of the Chicago Board of Education 1902-1905 and of the Civic Federation 1907-1925. Correspondence (1919-1936) is mainly between Mr. Mark and his son Clarence regarding family affairs and management of family finances. Also present are condolence letters and memorials upon Clayton Mark's death in 1936. The collection also contains a disbound scrapbook of news clippings about the Chicago Public Schools, July 1902-February 1903; and a cash receipts and disbursements ledger maintained by the estate of Clayton Mark, August 14, 1936-December 15, 1942.
