  • Collection summary Correspondence, financial materials, real estate documents, and other personal and family papers of Carl Egon Bjorklund, a Chicago automobile mechanic. Correspondence includes letters from Bjorklund's wife and children and letters regarding the impeachment of Richard Nixon, the Watergate scandal, efforts to reorganized the Chicago Police Department (ca. 1960s-1970s), and Bjorklund's appointment as Associate Inspector of Engineering Materials during World War II. Personal papers include the Bjorklund family history, Bjorklund's U.S. certificate of citizenship (1930), and materials regarding Bjorklund's son Richard and wife Mae Smith Bjorklund and her family. Also included is a cassette tape of Swedish music and a Pullman hand towel (1924).

  • Biographical or Historical Note Bjorklund was born in Sweden. He was a member of Local No. 701 Auto Mechanics of the International Association of Machinists and Aero Space Workers. Bjorklund also tutored people in reading and writing.
