    • Images, mostly made Sept. 1990- March 1991 (but some date as early as 1946), by these photographers: Lucille J. Adams, John Addis, Vince Boland, Phyllis Cerney, Gil Garcia, Carol Gilio, Hans Gutenstein, Jeanne Halama, Les Hier, Betty C. Kappella, William Kristy, Sam Krizan, Curtis Larsen, Helen V. Lynch, John McCarthy, Patricia Messmer, Paul Meyers, Alan Perry, Ronald Perry, Jack J. Regan, Norris Romeo, Carolyn Sparling, Peggy Stevens, and William Vokoun. Photographs were taken in Chicago and in the following suburbs and Illinois towns: Arlington Heights, Aurora, Batavia, Berwyn, Brookfield, Countryside, Elgin, Elmhurst, Evanston, Geneva, Glencoe, Grayslake, Gurnee, Homewood, Mount Prospect, Naperville, Oak Lawn, Oak Park, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Riverside, Rosemont, St. Charles, Schapville, Schaumburg, South Barrington, Stickney, Stockton, Summit, Vernon Hills, and Wilmette.
    • Includes views of prominent Chicago buildings, museums, harbors, churches, restaurants, parks, beaches, retail stores, theaters, libraries, the city's skyline, Lincoln Park Zoo, Metra stations, art galleries, new townhouses and apartments, bungalows, and other residential buildings. The following events and activities are also represented: St. Patrick's Day Parade, Perrier give-away, Shriners parade, Fourth of July celebration at Chicago Historical Society, Earth Day activities, Palestinian protesters, aftermath of a storm at Monroe harbor, and Mackinac Race.

  • Acquisition information These slides and many accompanying photoprints were the gift of the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association (CACCA) and gift of the individual photographers as part of the Chicagoland-in-Pictures project, an annual competition sponsored by Chicago Historical Society and CACCA since 1948. These images were accepted into the collection during the 1990-1991 competition (1991.0683).
