  • Collection summary Mainly views of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition made by amateur photographer Glessner, including 35 platinum photographs in excellent condition. Also includes images of Lincoln Park, Garfield Park, Jackson Park, and South Park; the Potter Palmer residence; Calumet Clubhouse; fires and fire equipment; and street scenes along Michigan Avenue and 18th Street. The Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, summer residences of the Fairbanks, Sturgis, and Seiter families are shown. Glessner was the son of prominent Chicagoans John Jacob and Frances Macbeth Glessner and resided at Glessner House, at 1800 South Prairie Avenue.
