  • Collection summary Correspondence, legal documents, writings by Hodes, newsclippings, film, and fliers on Hodes' career as a lawyer, Chicago Corporation Counsel, 1935-1946, and Democratic politician. Relates chiefly to city and state politics and government and plans to memorialize Revolutionary War hero Haym Salomon, who was represented in the statue, "The Great Triumvirate of Patriots," in Chicago, which represents George Washington with two important financiers of the American Revolutionary War: Robert Morris and Haym Salomon. Includes items on Jewish civic affairs, Freemasonry, Northwestern University Law School, and the United States Coast Guard. Also includes materials concerning Hodes' participation in the presidential campaigns of Adlai Stevenson (1952 and 1956), mayoral campaign of Richard J. Daley (1955), the administration of mayor Ed Kelly (1933-1947), and other political campaigns; efforts to bring both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions to Chicago in 1952; and Hodes' work as a trustee of the Shinner Foundation. Film is titled, "Your Chicago," about mayor Ed Kelly's administration, presented by Chicago's New Century Committee (a citizen's committee interested in Chicago's future).
