Papers concern neighborhood organizations, political issues and city ordinances, problems of her constituents and services for them available from government or charities, condition of buildings and housing in her district, landmarks preservation, services for senior citizens and youths, and day to day relations with various departments of city government.
  • Biographical or Historical Note On February 23, 1971, Marilou Hedlund was one of the first alderwomen to be elected to the Chicago City Council. She also was the first woman to receive the endorsement of the Democratic Organization of Cook County for alderman. The 48th Ward was a lakefront ward and the most diverse ward in the city, racially, ethnically, and economically.
