  • Access and usage restrictions To examine the glass negatives or the albums containing tintypes, it is necessary to make an advance appointment by email to Research@chicagohistory.org or by U.S. mail to the Research Center. Tintypes may be handled only by conservation staff of Chicago History Museum.
  • Collection summary Photographs of McCormick, his wife Constance Plummer McCormick, their children, and the family mausoleum in Florida. Also some photographs of Constance as a young girl and her family. Albums include formal portraits and snapshots of McCormick family members, views of England where they lived for many years, a few interiors of residences, postcards of England and France (1910-1920), and photos of Constance, Leander and some Alister in Cannes in 1926-1927. Most photos in these albums are unidentified. Of interest are cabinet card photos of McCormick's inventions and a group of portraits of McCormick labeled "Studies in Expression"--possibly related to his research in what he called "characterology."
