Gilbert Phelps Hall (1884-1971) was employed with the Chicago architectural firm Holabird and Root as a designer and draftsman. He attended Cornell University, and upon graduation traveled with John Root, Jr. to Paris. It was there that Hall became acquainted with John A. Holabird, Sr. Known to John A. Holabird, Jr. as "Uncle Gibs Hall," Hall was considered a noted draftsman as well as a leading designer. During the Depression, he worked in London as a renderer and illustrator. He then returned to the United States and worked in Hollywood designing and drawing stage sets. When Holabird and Root had recovered from the Depression, Hall returned to Chicago and remained there for the rest of his career.

This collection is comprised of twenty-seven mounted photographs of Gilbert P. Hall's renderings of Holabird and Root buildings in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. The buildings were constructed between 1928 and 1934.

The images are numbered according to the order they were presented in the album. They are listed in this finding aid in alphabetical order by project name.
