The Lincoln Central Neighborhood Association (LCA) developed out of the Lincoln Central Conservation Association in the late 1950s. The LCA wrote its first Constitution in 1959 and became a separate organization in 1960. LCA encompasses the area surrounded by North Avenue on the south, Halsted on the west, Lincoln Avenue on the northeast, and Ogden on the southeast. The LCA slogan, "A Group of Neighbors Working Together to Improve Our Area," summarized their main objectives: raising living standards within the community, retaining responsible residents, attracting young families, and encouraging residents to participate in the preservation of the human values and physical characteristics of a revitalized neighborhood.

The Central Neighborhood Association records include governing documents and correspondence related to the organization and its activities. Newsletters, minutes of community, CAPS, and board meetings, and materials documenting community events are also part of this collection. __Documents relating to Children's Memorial Hospital, Oz Park, the St. Vincent DePaul Center, and Lincoln Park High School have been interfiled with the Lincoln Park Conservation Association Records.
