The CB&Q’s Advertising Department worked in close connection with its General Passenger Traffic Department in creating public timetables and other promotional printed material to boost ridership on the trains. The department was also the liaison with the press, creating press releases and fielding requests for information about the railroad and its history.

Materials include administrative files, advertising copy, press kits, budgets, and subject files relating to the promotion of the railroad. There are also advertisements for the railroad produced by the department, and news clippings about the CB&Q. The Department was also responsible for maintaining the scrapbooks of promotional material (see CB&Q 32.81, Boxes 93-100) and clippings (see CB&Q 32.81, boxes 100-102), the printed ephemera (see CB&Q 32.9), and the photograph albums (see CB&Q A-5-3).

Forms part of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company Records.
