Ralph Creer was a former director of the American Medical Association's Department of Scientific Assembly and devoted his career to medical communications. The collection contains material he collected on medical communications, photography, and film over his 40 year career. Most of the collection consists of article reprints, film production industry publications, and conference material

Ralph P. Creer (1909-2000) was a leading figure in the area of medical photography and the use of photography, motion pictures, and television in medical education and professional conferences. Early in his career he worked for the Yale School of Medicine and the Hines Veterans Administration Hospital. He served as a medical photographer in the army during World War II and subsequently began a long period of service with the American Medical Association. Creer was a founding member of the Biological Photographic Association, a professional organization now called the BioCommunications Association. The organization's Creer Service Award is named after him.
