  • AbstractHelen Celia Schubert was born on May 30, 1930 to Paul H. and Edna W. (Schmidt) Schubert in Washington City, Wisconsin. She received a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1952. An award winning public relations executive in Chicago, she established her own firm, Helen C. Schubert & Associates. She served as vice-president of the Women's Advertising Club of Chicago (1969 - 1972) and was a member of many other professional and philanthropic organizations. Her papers include reports, minutes, correspondence, memoranda, programs, brochures, flyers, membership lists, calendars, agendas, tickets, invitations, photographs, contact sheets, negatives, slides, filmstrips, clippings, interview transcripts, published articles, booklets, and press releases.

Helen Celia Schubert was born on May 30, 1930 to Paul H. and Edna W. (Schmidt) Schubert in Washington City, Wisconsin. She received a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1952. A public relations executive in Chicago, she started her career as a writer and account executive at the Philip Lesly Co. in Chicago from 1959 to 1961. She served as public relations director for the United Cerebral Palsy Association from 1962 to 1963 and administrative director of the National Design Center in Chicago from 1963 to 1967. Schubert worked successfully as a public relations consultant from 1967 in Chicago with her own firm, Helen C. Schubert & Associates. An active professional woman, Schubert served as vice-president of the Women's Advertising Club of Chicago (1969 - 1972), a lifelong member of the Publicity Club of Chicago receiving an annual award in 1966, a member of Women in Communications with distinguished Service Award in 1972, and as a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and American Women Radio and TV. She was also active in the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association and contributed articles to the World Book Yearbook.

The Helen C. Schubert Papers reflect her work in public relations with promotional materials for several organizations and events such as Sears, Roebuck, and Co. and the March of Dimes.
