  • Collection summary Image of unidentified men walking through a wrecked structure during the inquest for the water-intake crib disaster in Chicago, Illinois. A temporary wooden structure involved in the construction of a new water-intake crib by George W. Jackson, Inc., in Lake Michigan off 71st Street burst into flame on January 20, 1909, and 70 workers died in the disaster.
