DeKing is standing in the foreground, and three women, three men, and a boy are standing near him. Public interest in the police raid that resulted in the death of Lillian DeKing was so strong that the hearing was moved to a larger room to accommodate the crowds. The raid took place at the DeKing home near Aurora, and the court hearing was held in Geneva, the county seat for Kane County.
