The cornerstone was laid on November 28, 1901, and the building was dedicated on January 29th, 1904. The gymnasium is located at 5640 South University Avenue in the Hyde Park community area of Chicago, Illinois. The view of the building is at its southeast corner. The bricks used in the structure are limestone, and the architectural style is Gothic Revival.
