  • Description In this black and white photograph a young woman holding a small child stands in front of a row of wooden telephone booths at a train station. Three full phone booths and part of a fourth are visible. A sign overhead reads "Public Telephone Center". The first booth on the left is closed and a male figure is partially visible through the windows in the upper portion of the doors. The doors on the other booths are open and the telephones are visible in the right back corners. The woman who has shoulder length, curled blond hair is standing facing away from the camera and looking off to the left. She is wearing a short dark jacket with a straight checked skirt, that falls below her knees. She is carrying a large rectangular black purse with a shoulder strap on her left shoulder. The child, who appears to be about 6 months old, is held upright by the woman and is dressed in a bonnet and wrapped in a blanket. The woman is also holding another bag with a baby blanket and a quilt diaper bag.
