  • Collection summary Exterior views of the Rush Street scene, when it was a center of 1960s Chicago nightlife attracting out-of-town business people and conventioneers as well as local residents. Collection includes views of cabarets, bars, clubs, and restaurants typical of this Gold Coast business district when entertainment venues ranged from high-end clubs, such as Mr. Kelly's, to striptease joints. Street facades and street life are shown, as well as details of colorful signs and marquees. Typical of the conventioneers is one image of supporters of Eugene McCarthy for President, wearing straw hats and buttons advertising his campaign.
