  • Collection summary Files of the Chicago Cable Television Study Commission (CCTSC) regarding the implementation of cable television franchises in Chicago (Ill.). The collection contains transcripts of CCTSC meetings or hearings (1981), correspondence (1981-1984), and applications from cable providers with the intent of establishing franchises in Chicago. Applicants include Cablevision Systems Chicago, Continental Cable Chicago, and Group W Cable Chicago. Materials collected by lawyer George W. Overton, Esq., who worked for Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon and was the co-chairperson of the CCTSC.
  • Biographical or Historical Note CCTSC was sponsored by Business and Professional People for the Public Interest (BPI), the Chicago Urban League, the Church Federation of Greater Chicago, The Citizens Committee on the Media, and the Roger Baldwin Foundation of the American Civil Liberties Union to study experiences in other cities, consider alternatives, and make recommendations to the mayor and the city council.
