  • Biographical or Historical Note Prior to the Volstead Act, Prima Company (also known as Primalt Products Company) was Chicago's largest brewery, and it was one of seven authorized breweries in Chicago during Prohibition, when it made "near beer." In 1941, Bismarck Brewing Company purchased Prima Company and changed the name to Prima-Bismarck Brewing Company.
